La Note

Since coming to Cal, I’ve consistently heard this restaurant mentioned whenever people talked about great places to enjoy brunch. I was definitely intrigued but never got around to going – until this visit. I’m glad to say that I can confirm what people have been raving about.

It was a Sunday morning, and La Note was packed. After our wait, my friends and I were seated at the outdoor patio, a quaint little place with trees and shrubbery. The menu items were in French (with English descriptions, of course), and after some time deciding, I went with their Le Bon Vivant (good living) Cote Est combo – two scrambled eggs, bacon, and their popular Lemon Gingerbread pancake with poached pears.

Although we waited for quite some time for our food, it was definitely worth it. Amazing bacon, tasty scrambled eggs, and my, the Lemon Gingerbread pancake was amazing! Moist, flavorful, with a hint of lemon and some fresh pears as topping – great combination.

La Note is an excellent place to enjoy a weekend brunch and good conversation with your friends. It’s a bit pricier than your usual breakfast place, but I’d definitely give it a try!
