Homeroom

“What’s so special about a mac n cheese place?” You might be wondering this as you enter a nicely furnished and decorated corner restaurant in the heart of Oakland just off Telegraph Avenue. I was wondering the same thing, and it was hard to imagine paying more than a few bucks for some macaroni and cheese.

But Homeroom is different. The macaroni has a different texture. The cheese is perfectly baked and melted. And you can have your choice of bacon, Vermont cheese, truffle oil, and more in their many variants of mac n cheese. The bread crumbs are a must. I was definitely impressed and enjoyed the meal through and through.

Although the price is quite a bit higher than you’d expect for a dish you could get at the grocery store, I think it’s well justified – you’re paying for some really quality food, crafted to perfection. I’d definitely recommend that you check out this place the next time you’re in the mood for something filling and delicious.
