KoJa Kitchen

Today, I went food truck-hunting with James, Anna, and Jin – ended up driving to Pleasanton to track down a food truck called KoJa Kitchen. Really glad that we made the trip. Apparently, they’re at Off the Grid in Berkeley, too, so I might stop by again over the summer.

We each ordered the Kamikaze Combo, which included their raved-about Kamikaze Fries and Korean BBQ KoJa burger. The Kamikaze Fries included crisscut fries topped with Korean BBQ Beef, kimchi, green onions and drizzled with their signature sauce and Japanese mayo. The Korean BBQ Beef (Bulgogi) KoJa came with sauteed onions, Japanese seasoned romaine lettuce, also drizzled with their signature sauce and served in toasted hand-made rice buns.

The food was on the pricey side for sure ($12.50 for both plus a soda), but overindulging in delicious food is good once in a while, right? And delicious they were – the beef was well-marinated, very flavorful, and the rice cakes really added a unique flavor and texture to the Koja burger. And the fries? Let’s just say these are at the top of my list, only behind Colima Burger’s chili cheese fries and Alberto’s carne asada fries, which is quite a compliment.

Overall, I’d recommend KoJa for sure if you’re in the mood for some gourmet food truck food and don’t mind spending a bit more for the quality and taste.
