Papa’s Smokehouse & BBQ

On the third day of the epic second weekend of Coachella 2012, my roommates and I decided to try out a good restaurant around the area for Jay’s birthday lunch.

We found out about Papa’s Smokehouse & BBQ, heard about the excellent reviews, and decided to give the place a shot. Upon entering, we were greet by friendly people behind a counter, who recommended the Sampler Combo Plate since it was our first time at the restaurant.

We obliged, and a bit later, found ourselves enjoying some of the best BBQ and meat in a long time. The Sampler Combo included 1 rib, 1 thigh, beef brisket, and pulled pork, along with two sides (I chose baked beans and mac ‘n cheese, but also head great things about the potato salad).

Papa’s makes their own BBQ sauce, and this really added a sweet and tangy flavor to the meats. Overall a delicious and filling meal that I’d recommend if you ever find yourself in the Yucca Valley/Joshua Tree National Park area in California.
